Who We Are

Movement for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Liberia (MOPGEL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working with community leaders, women, girls, children, people with disabilities as well as men in Des Moines, Iowa USA and Liberia, West Africa to transform gendered norms to overcome poverty, access education, skills/vocational training, etc.

What We Do

Movement for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Liberia (MOPGEL) agreed with other advocates that gender equality is realized when women, men, girls and boys enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society. These rights include but are not limited to education, vocational training, economic participation, decision-making, right to good housing, etc. Against this backdrop, we’re working with community people and their leaders to build schools, set up vocational training centers, other projects related to livelihood and at the same time empower people to create awareness for transformation.
